The T-Birds Go Golfing In Anchorage

This year the Anchorage Thunderbird Rugby Football Club decided to take rugby practice to the streets of Anchorage.  As part of our training, the T-Birds decided to compete in the"Thunderbirds RFC Inaugural Pub-Golf Invitational 2007".  The rules were complicated and golfing attire was essential. My partner and fellow commentator for this event was none other than our own "Coach" Cosy, another keen competitor!  The rules for this golfing event are as follows: 

The golf course will consist of 9 Holes standard(ie pubs) within suitable walking distance of each other.  Each player receives a score card as used in the standard (grass and clubs) version of golf. At each watering hole each player gets a pint (or other pre-agreed amount), and has to down it in as few goes as possible. The number of goes required is recorded on the score card, and the players move on to the next hole (pub).

Obviously the winner is the person with the lowest total score after all the
holes have been visited.  Some other special rules are as follows:

Rules:

  • A shot is an attempt to drink your drink, so every time you place your drink to your lips you take a shot. Downing your drink constitutes a hole in one.
  • Trips to the toilet must be monitored to prevent allegations of tactical play (vomiting). Anyone breaking this rule gets a 2 shot penalty.
  • No performance enhancing substances (water or food) to be taken while the game is in progress.

    • Penalty Shots:

    1. The water hazard. Any spilt drinks incur a one shot penalty.
    2. Bunker shot. Any trips to the bog incur a 1 shot penalty
    3. In the rough. Any puking incurs a 2+ shot penalty

    The drink of choice on the 5th Hole was a "Large Bacardi & Coke" and a Par 5

    The 6th Hole At "Humpy's Pub"

    The drink of choice on the 6th Hole was a "Pint Of Guiness" and a Par 4

    The 7th Hole at "McGinely's Pub"

    The drink of choice on the 7th Hole was a "Small Amber" and a Par 3

    The drink of choice on the 8th Hole was a "Bottle of Lite Beer" and a Par 4
